BAAM! connects and engages students, schools and communities through the creation and experience of art. Past projects include a large world map mosaic, a Peace and Unity mosaic, an art-against-violence anti-bullying mosaic (4 feet high x 16 feet long), and an outdoor garden mosaic. Other PHS projects conducted by project leadership include painted art benches for the school garden and a series of murals for a anti-suicide campaign, in cooperation with John’s Hopkins Bayview and the Baltimore Police Department. We invite input from students, schools and communities regarding future project concepts.
In December 2017, when BAAMARTS received a $4,000 grant from the Baltimore Community Foundation for a student-designed outdoor mosaic sign in front of Patterson’s building, with a border of the flags representing Patterson’s 37 countries of student origin. A school and a community event to unveil the Mural will be held during Patterson’ Winter Arts Showcase in December.
We would love to hear your community art project ideas.
